Dear Katy,

Tell Congress: Protect victims of

Nonconsensual pornography, or "revenge porn," is a form of abuse and sexual exploitation. It weaponizes invasions of privacy to delegitimize and humiliate women.1

Rep. Katie Hill was recently one of the millions of victims of revenge porn. In a disgusting display of misogyny, mainstream outlets published intimate photos released by her abusive ex-husband without her consent. Technology shouldn't be weaponized to commit sexual violence against victims but there is no federal legislation to protect people who will become victims of cyber exploitation.2

The SHIELD Act would change that. Can you help build momentum for its passage today?

Tell Congress: Stand up for victims of sexual violence. Pass the Stopping Harmful Image Exploitation and Limiting Distribution (SHIELD) Act of 2019. Click here to sign the petition.

Cyber exploitation is a tactic of abuse, harassment and intimidation. Abusers typically identify as male and intentionally use intimate images as weapons to attack a victim's career and relationships with family and friends. Cyber exploitation is usually paired with other abusive behaviors like stalking, obsessive and retaliatory acts, and death threats.3

Although 46 states offer protections from cyber exploitation, these laws are inconsistent and do not provide complete support to victims who are seeking justice. The SHIELD Act of 2019 would ensure that the Department of Justice has adequate and appropriate tools to address this violation of privacy and establish federal criminal liability for offenders responsible for sharing intimate, sexual images without consent.4

As women, girls, and LGBTQ+ people across the country continue to be the targets of revenge porn, it's time for Congress to take action and immediately pass the SHIELD Act. Click the link below to sign the petition:
