Trump can’t hide the truth about climate change

Greenpeace

Dear Kathleen,

Power the Resistance — Expose the truth, refuse to back down!

Give today

Help us reach our $180,000 goal by the Peoples Climate March on April 29!

Donate Today

This is no time to back down.

Trump is desperate to keep people in the dark: refusing to release his tax returns, deleting "climate change" from the White House website, [1] and now employees at Department of Energy's climate office have been discouraged from using the phrase "climate change." [2]

These relentless attempts to hide information from the public are designed to disguise Trump's oppressive, destructive agenda. Trump is counting on us getting beaten down, tired out, and giving up. But we cannot cave in. Kathleen, we need you with us now to restore transparency and justice. Will you please help Greenpeace reach our funding goal for the month, to support all our programs to save the planet, with an urgent donation today?

The Greenpeace movement is not going away. We are calling out Trump's lies and exposing his administration's deceitful tactics, which favor industries that pollute — while communities pay the price. But countering Trump's attacks takes tremendous resources. We can't afford to come up short. We won't reach our $180,000 goal without you. Please give today.

For people like you and me, who care deeply about the world we share, there are signs of hope for this movement everywhere. Scientists are archiving vital research data. Trump's executive orders keep being challenged in court. This weekend people are taking to the streets in Washington DC and other cities to demand Trump release his tax returns, and we are right there with them. And Greenpeace supporters like you are stepping up like never before. Thank you!

Now, please join fellow members of this community and continue to power the resistance with your gift. I know this is an overwhelming, uphill climb every step of the way. But if we back down now, Trump gets away with it all.

For a green and peaceful future,

Mary Nicol
Climate campaigner, Greenpeace USA

P.S. We must reach our funding goal in time for the Peoples Climate March on April 29 — one of our biggest and best chances to demonstrate the power of our movement. Your gift today can ensure we succeed!

#Resist with us at the Peoples Climate March

Greenpeace

Dear Kathleen,

Join the Peoples Climate March on April 29!

RSVP Today!

RSVP TODAY to march for our climate and communities!

On April 29, 2017 tens of thousands of people will gather in DC and across the country to march for jobs, justice, and the climate at the Peoples Climate March. Will you be one of them?

As Trump continues his agenda to tear apart our country's climate protections and push through new fossil fuel projects, it is VITAL that we come together and speak out for the climate and all the communities that will be affected by worsening climate change.

Are you ready to speak out for our climate? Sign up here to join your closest Climate March — or start your own!

Trump's agenda puts our country's most vulnerable communities at risk and threatens our entire planet's future. He is determined to tear down important climate protections like the Clean Power Plan and to push forward dangerous fossil fuel projects like Keystone XL.

But we will #resist, and we will win. Join us on April 29th to send a giant message to Trump and his cronies that we will not stand down as he attacks our communities and our planet.

RSVP today to march for our climate and #resist Trump's agenda!

We know that Trump's dangerous policies aren't about to stop, but neither are we. When we come together and resist, we have the power to protect our neighbors and the environment.

United in resistance,

Kyli Wagner
Grassroots Organizer, Greenpeace USA

P.S. Hosting or attending a sister march? You don't have to go it alone. We've set up a handy guide for you to find fellow marchers or recruit for your own on our Greenwire platform.

Your 6-step guide to resistance

Greenpeace

Dear Kathleen,

You want the tools to resist the Trump administration's anti-environment agenda — we're here to give them to you.

RESIST Launch Kit
Check out the new RESIST Launch Kit today and take these six steps to effective resistance!

RESIST

Trump's attacks on our air, water, and communities seem to get scarier by the day.

Already, he's signed an executive order to cancel the Clean Power Plan and resume the practice of leasing our public lands to coal mining companies. On top of that, his budget would slash the EPA's funding by one-third and cut critical programs like the environmental justice and superfund clean-up programs that protect clean air and water for millions of people.

People like you are already doing so much to resist Trump's anti-environment agenda, but if we're going to stop this administration from putting fossil fuel profits before our climate and communities, we need to do more.

Right now, we have a chance to take our resistance to a new level — and we absolutely have to take it. The current congressional recess — when our senators and representatives leave Washington to come back and interact with you, their constituents — runs through April 23. Let's make it a Resistance Recess.

Make sure Trump and Congress know that we won't back down in the face of attacks on our air, water, and communities. Build the movement to resist Trump: dive in with the RESIST Launch Kit today!

Whether you're looking to begin your resistance journey or are a seasoned activist, the RESIST Launch Kit is built for you. It features six avenues to action so you can make a difference for our health and environment.

No matter how you choose to resist, this is a critical time to speak out and ask your representatives what their plan is to protect clean air and clean water where your live. If Congress doesn't step in right now, Trump could actually succeed in destroying programs that clean our air and protect our water from pollution. But we know they won't take action unless you do.

We only have until April 23 — when Congress reconvenes — to take advantage of this window. Don't wait. Use the RESIST Launch Kit today to make sure your representatives are taking action for clean air and water!

Trump may have big banks and the fossil fuel industry on his side, but the resistance movement has creativity, conviction, and people power. We've already defeated him in the courts, dwarfed his rallies with our marches, and made his Cabinet nominations the most contested in history.

But we can't stop until our air, our water, and our health are protected; we can all play a role in resisting these latest attacks. Check out the new RESIST Launch Kit and help make this the biggest Resistance Recess yet!

Yours in resistance,

Hanna Mitchell
RESIST Project Team, Greenpeace USA

P.S. Thousands of people joined the first Resistance Recess in February, storming their town halls and demanding action from their representatives. Now we need you to make this movement even stronger. Visit the RESIST Launch Kit and get ready to #ResistOften!

Heather’s story

Greenpeace

Dear Kathleen,

"I lost three friends this past week. Three people died."

That's one of the first things Heather Von St. James said to me when I asked her why she cares so deeply about the Trump administration's attempts to gut the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Like you, she recognizes that human lives are at stake.

Heather knows firsthand the devastation that could happen if Trump succeeds. At 36 years old, she was diagnosed with mesothelioma, a rare and usually lethal form of cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. Since recovering, she's dedicated herself to fighting for regulations that protect public health for millions of Americans and limit exposure to toxic chemicals in our environment.

And until Trump entered office, Heather was seeing progress.

Now, Heather is gearing up for the fight of her life — and it's one that will affect all of us who rely on clean air, clean water, and a healthy environment. More than 35,000 people have already taken action by petitioning Congress to defend the EPA's budget — will you join them? WATCH Heather's video and take action today!

Heather's story

Trump's draft budget would cut EPA funding by 31 percent, slashing regulations that protect clean air and water for millions of Americans and reallocating the funds to the Department of Defense for "more warships and fighter jets."

Simply put, it's more money for war and less for health and the environment.

As Heather explains, "Those regulations are in place for a reason. They are there to save lives; they're there to protect our kids and our future. Without the backing of the EPA, people are going to get sick; people are going to keep dying."

Trump is putting the lives of people like Heather at risk to protect industry profits — we have to keep resisting! WATCH Heather's video today and take action to show the White House that we will not back down in the face attacks on our health and environment.

The Trump administration may be praising the benefits of its "cost-saving" budget, but make no mistake — the costs of disease are astronomical.

Heather was left with more than $1 million in medical expenses. She had to travel back and forth between her home in Minnesota and Boston for specialist treatment. Radiation treatment and surgery to remove her left lung have left one side of her body numb, and she can't work. Making sure she has insurance is a matter of life or death.

Even with these staggering financial costs, Heather told me it was the personal toll that hit her hardest.

"When I was sick I felt very alone," she said. "I missed out on the whole first year of my baby's life. I watched her grow up through black and white photos that my mom would send to me on email. These are things that you can't put a dollar amount on."

As long as this administration is in power, Greenpeace will stand by people like Heather — and all communities whose health has been jeopardized by toxic pollution — to defend our right to a healthy environment. Will you continue to stand with us?

Will you WATCH Heather's powerful story today and take action to prove your resistance to Trump's anti-environment agenda?

Yours in resistance,

Ryan Schleeter
RESIST Team, Greenpeace USA

P.S. Heather's story shows what gutting the EPA would really mean — putting the lives of millions of Americans at risk to protect industry profits. When lives are on the line, we have to resist! Please, watch Heather's story today and take action today to protect our environment and health.

Climate crisis is reaching point of no return

Greenpeace

Dear Kathleen,

Power the Resistance — Demand climate action before it's too late!

Give today
Help us reach our $180,000 goal by the People's Climate March on April 29!

Donate Today

We've reached the tipping point to act on climate change. And we have no choice but to cut carbon emissions by dramatic proportions right now.

But Trump and his fossil-fuel-loving administration are determined to tear down our climate protections and drill, mine, and frack even more fossil fuels from the ground — spewing carbon into the air and threatening clean air and water. That's why we are asking YOU to Power the Resistance and help us raise $180,000 by April 29 to fight Trump's attacks on our climate future and support our work to save the planet.

On April 29, Greenpeace is partnering with over 100 environmental organizations to mobilize for the People's Climate March, and we must make the impact of our demonstration felt around the world. With Trump calling the shots, it is more important than ever that we show a strong, united front demanding climate action now. We can't take "no" for an answer.

Science has spoken: the path to a sustainable future for people, wildlife, and the climate does not include fossil fuels. If we don't keep the majority of the world's remaining fossil fuels in the ground, the damage from burning them will be irreversible, setting our planet on a course for climate catastrophe.

If we're going to prevent climate disaster, we need to #resist Trump's agenda. Your donation right now will help power this resistance, fight for clean air and water, and more.

With your support, we'll pressure Big Banks not to fund the Keystone XL pipeline — keeping dirty tar sands in the ground. We'll fight Trump's rumored plans to open the Arctic and Atlantic up to offshore drilling. We'll organize petition drives and mobilize our activists to take action against Trump's plans to repeal the Clean Power Plan or defund the EPA. We will continue to call out the falsehoods spread by Trump and his fossil fuel allies — and expose environmental abuses.

Kathleen, none of this happens without you. Please support Greenpeace today. You can put this campaign over the edge. Thank you, as always, for fighting for the sustainable and just future we so desperately need.

Yours in solidarity,

Leila Deen
Campaign Projects Director, Greenpeace USA

P.S. The time to stop runaway climate change and protect our air and water is NOW. Please make your gift today to take Trump to task between now and the People's Climate March — and every day after. Thank you!

Fight for the EPA -- lives are at stake!

Greenpeace

Dear Kathleen,

Power the Resistance – Fight for the EPA!

Give today
Help us reach our $180,000 goal by the People's Climate March on April 29!

Donate Today

It's terrifying that I even have to say this, but it has to be said: Trump's agenda could cost people their lives.

One study shows that if the Clean Power Plan is overturned, as Trump has ordered, that tens of thousands of people will die prematurely from heart problems and respiratory illness caused by particle pollution.[1] If the Environmental Protection Agency's budget is slashed to the level that Trump wants, enforcement of our environmental regulations will become difficult and more people will face lead poisoning from their drinking water and higher rates of cancer due to other pollutants.[2]

It's unbelievably tragic and utterly senseless. But we can rewrite this story. The budget is not a done deal — yet. Please bring the full force of Greenpeace to the fight right now to block EPA budget cuts and save programs to combat climate change and protect our air and water. Please give today!

We simply must reach our $180,000 funding goal this month to fight Trump, Scott Pruitt, and their attempts to dismantle the EPA, and continue our work to save the planet. Trump wants to cut the EPA's budget by a staggering 31% more than any other agency! But when you power our resistance with your contribution now, you'll help us do what we do best — investigate abuse of power, expose the truth about environmental impacts, mobilize our activists, and resist!

We're taking action across the country — sponsoring the March for Science and the People's Climate March — and in communities everywhere in between. We're running petition drives, giving people tools to engage and persuade their legislators, and giving people the tools they need to take action and make their voices heard. All while continuing to run important environmental campaigns like our campaign to stop Big Banks from funding the disastrous Keystone XL pipeline.

Your support now can make all the difference. I hope to hear from you!

Sincerely,

Mary Nicol
Climate Campaigner, Greenpeace USA

P.S. Your contribution to our fundraising drive will make a powerful difference as we scale up our opposition to Trump's budget cuts and the fossil fuel agenda — in time for the People's Climate March and every fight beyond. Please give now so we can hit our $180,000 goal by April 29.

Together, you and I will stop Trump

Greenpeace

Dear Kathleen,

Let's do this. Power the Resistance, all the way to the People's Climate March and beyond!

Fight alongside me with a donation to Greenpeace and do a good green deed.

Donate Today

Ever since Trump took office, I have a daily, one-word to-do list: resist. It's short, but powerful. Just like I am.

Being a part of the Greenpeace resistance I know I'm with a movement that is bigger than Trump — and you are, too.  And together, you and I are going to stop this greedy, heartless polluter from signing away our water, air, land, and climate future.

Cut the EPA? Uh-uh. Gag NASA scientists? Hell, no. Obliterate the Clean Power Plan? Not on my watch. I am not going down without a fight. And I hope you'll fight alongside me by giving to Greenpeace today.

I became a Greenpeace member right after Trump's election, because I knew it would make an impact. Let me tell you, nothing made me prouder than seeing a Greenpeace "RESIST" banner hanging over the White House! Now, I'm supporting Greenpeace's fundraising goal in the hopes we can reach $180,000 to fight Trump, Pruitt, and the polluters behind them. I urge you to please join me with your gift, in time for the People's Climate March on April 29th. It's a good, green deed you can do today to power the resistance.

Next up for me is, I'm joining thousands in the streets of Washington, DC for the People's Climate March. I'm marching for people I know and people I've never met. People whose lives and future depend on the choices we make right now. Greenpeace is a partner for the march, and your support for the fund drive can make a huge difference in the power of our demonstration.

On top of that, Greenpeace is organizing and resisting all across the country. They're campaigning to stop Big Banks from funding the Keystone XL pipeline. They're exposing Scott Pruitt's lies about climate change and fighting the influence of the fossil fuel industry. They're confronting environmental abuse and promoting sustainability and justice.

The decisions our country makes today will be felt across the world. From climate refugees in the Pacific to Indigenous communities here at home. From farmers to fishermen. From polar bears to honeybees. From my little nieces and nephews to the young people in your life.

The only way I know how to win a better future for us all is to stand with Greenpeace supporters today. We are powerful. So, let's do this.

Sincerely,

Kelly G.
Proud Greenpeace Member

P.S. You are the heart and soul of the Greenpeace movement. I hope you'll join in our effort to meet our $180,000 goal by April 29 to scale up our opposition to the Trump agenda—in time for the People's Climate March and every fight beyond.
