| Dear Katy, This weekend, Trump admitted that he asked Ukraine's president to dig up dirt on 2020 Democratic rival Joe Biden in an attempt to undermine our democracy and solicit foreign powers to interfere and sway the 2020 elections in his favor. Officials have since confirmed that Trump withheld $400 million in military aid leading up to his phone call with the Ukrainian president.1 Now, Speaker Pelosi finally endorsed a formal impeachment inquiry.2 It has taken far too long to get to this point, and there are still some gaping holes in Democrats' plans. Speaker Pelosi has the power to move with speed and purpose toward a full floor vote on articles of impeachment by November 15 – but we need to keep up the pressure. Trump is so emboldened by Congress's refusal to act that he personally tried to collude with Ukraine's leader after the two-year investigation of Russian interference during the 2016 elections. Trump is even willing to go as far as withholding aid as leverage for his collusion and treason. Until now, Speaker Pelosi has done far more foot-dragging than leading. With no commitment to an end date, there is a serious risk of "running out the clock" while Trump continues to escalate his abuses of office. Speaker Pelosi should cancel the October recess to keep the momentum moving on impeachment and vote on articles of impeachment no later than November 15. We shouldn't wait to move forward on impeachment. Trump has committed numerous impeachable offenses and threatens our communities, democracy and planet on a daily basis. There is more than enough evidence to call for a full vote in the House of Representatives to impeach, and doing anything less is recklessly putting our country at risk. The momentum is clearly on our side, but we will not win if we don't demand bold, strategic leadership from Speaker Pelosi.
