Fwd: DEFUND Keystone XL!

Greenpeace

Kathleen,

YOU have the power to stop Keystone XL and other tar sands projects from breaking ground.

Tar sands oil is one of the dirtiest fuels on the planet, and Trump is determined to build more pipelines to carry it, putting communities and our climate at risk of spills and catastrophic climate change. But these dangerous pipelines cannot be built without financial support from major banks.

Public pressure from people like you can stop Keystone XL. Join over 130,000 who have already spoken up to tell big banks to DEFUND tar sands pipelines today!

Together, we CAN stop dirty tar sands oil pipelines from threatening our communities and climate.

Thank you,
Rachael Prokop
Climate Campaigner, Greenpeace USA

If we're going to stop pipelines like Keystone XL, we must cut them off at their source: their funding.

People like you have been putting major pressure on big banks to pull funding from these dangerous and controversial pipelines, and banks are paying attention! Now we're inviting you to join a powerful coalition of allies and Indigenous leadership calling for big banks to stop financing the four proposed tar sands pipelines, including KXL.

Send a message to major banks asking them to DEFUND Keystone XL and other dangerous pipelines today!

In the past few weeks, activists have rallied in Sweden at the home of the Nobel Peace Prize, at over a dozen Chase Bank branch locations in Seattle, and on the terrace inside of Trump Tower in New York, carrying the same basic demand: to have our neighbors, our elected leaders, and our institutions divest from the very fossil fuel companies that are destroying the planet. And we're not done yet!

Our work is already having an impact. Last month, US Bank announced that it would stop funding FUTURE pipeline projects under some circumstances,1 however US Bank has just renewed its lending to the Dakota Access Pipeline, and to a series of natural gas pipelines in the East,2 so clearly, they (and we) have more work to do. Let's keep the pressure on!

Sign on to send a message to big banks today and join more than a dozen groups calling on financial institutions to defund dangerous pipelines!

The Dakota Access Pipeline has already leaked three times, and those were all before the pipeline became fully operational on June 1.3 These pipelines WILL spill, and communities across their routes are at risk.

Send the banks an urgent message today!

Thank you,

P.S. We're working with Indigenous leaders to send a message that these big banks can't ignore. Sign on to our petition today to DEFUND dangerous fossil fuel pipelines!
