Help prevent dangerous tar sands pipelines and continue the momentum for a more green and peaceful future!

Take action
A foreign oil company, TransCanada, is trying to build Keystone XL (KXL) — a dangerous tar sands oil pipeline — through lands belonging to Indigenous peoples, farmers, ranchers, and communities in the U.S.

KXL is just one of the four proposed tar sands pipelines in the works that trample human rights, threaten horrific oil spills, and risk locking us into catastrophic climate change. We aren't about to stand for it.

We need your help now to stop Keystone XL and other dirty fossil fuel pipelines threatening communities across the United States and Canada. Will you donate to Greenpeace today to support all our work to protect the environment?

Greenpeace is working on all fronts to prevent these pipelines from being built and to keep tar sands in the ground. Working with our allies, in the last month Greenpeace has:
  • Pressured major banks to pull their funding of tar sand pipelines. A few banks have already come out against financing destructive tar sands pipelines. Now we're calling on JP Morgan Chase to do the same. In fact, more than 60,000 people have signed our petition demanding it.
  • Trained hundreds of activists across the U.S. in tactics for organizing and participating in peaceful, non-violent direct action.
  • Produced a new report exposing the threats that tar sands pipelines pose to water sources. We must spread this information far and wide.
But stopping tar sands pipelines like KXL and continuing all our efforts to protect people and the planet will take a powerful coalition of groups and allies and an array tactics. Keeping up our momentum is crucial. So is your support.

Tar sands oil is one of the dirtiest energy sources on the planet, producing up to 20% more carbon emissions than conventional oil. And history shows that there is simply no 100% safe way to transport fossil fuels. Yet Donald Trump's pro-fossil fuel agenda means we could face a massive expansion of the U.S. pipeline network, including increased development in the Canadian tar sands. It would be disastrous for the climate and violate the rights of tribes and First Nations across borders. It could also mean a lot more pipeline spills that destroy the environment, wildlife, and people's way of life.

Water, the climate, our rights, and the health of our communities and planet are on the line. Please give now to help Greenpeace in this pivotal moment and to support all our work to protect communities, people, and the environment.

For people and the planet,

Diana Best,
Senior Climate and Energy Campaigner, Greenpeace USA

P.S. We will continue to use people power to fight for our environment and communities. We're not backing down and I know you won't either. Please stand with us — donate now.

Greenpeace never takes a dime from corporations or governments. Everything we do is thanks to the generous support of people like you!
