Sign if you agree: There is more than enough evidence to impeach Trump

Tell Rep. Cohen and Rep. Raskin to open an impeachment inquiry now

Petition to the Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties of the Committee on the Judiciary:
"There is overwhelming evidence of impeachable offenses committed by the Trump administration, including obstruction of justice and abuse of emergency powers. Your subcommittee has a constitutional duty to open an immediate inquiry into whether to recommend articles of impeachment and reign in this lawless, racist administration."

Dear Katy,

Tell Rep. Cohen and Rep. Raskin to open an impeachment inquiry now

A lawless, racist president is sitting in the Oval Office and harming our communities every single day – yet Congress keeps telling us to wait to rein him in.

Representatives Steve Cohen and Jamie Raskin, respectively chair and vice-chair of the House Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, have the power to begin an impeachment inquiry against Trump in their subcommittees – and they must use it.1

As special counsel Robert Mueller testifies in front of Congress today, we are reminded that there is already more than enough evidence to impeach Trump. And every single day that Congress refuses to act on this evidence, it is complicit in Trump's reckless, dangerous behavior. We must urge Reps. Cohen and Raskin to use their constitutional power to protect our communities and hold this administration accountable.

Tell Representatives Steve Cohen and Jamie Raskin: Open an impeachment inquiry against Trump immediately. Click here to sign the petition.

Trump's racist attack on four congresswomen of color is just the latest in a long line of attempts to hurdle the country towards authoritarianism. Whether it's declaring a fake national emergency in order to commit an unconstitutional power grab, attempting to ban an entire religion from our country, separating and indefinitely detaining immigrant families, undermining our democracy to line his pockets or obstructing justice, it's clear that there are enough grounds for the House of Representatives to move forward with impeachment proceedings. But our representatives won't act unless we force them to.

Trump's blatant white nationalism has no place in the White House. By stoking racial divisions, Trump is clearly pandering to his racist base of supporters, desperate to save face and keep his job despite his rampant corruption and obstruction of justice.

Reps. Cohen and Raskin can act without any additional approval. The two have already come out in favor of impeachment, and the House Judiciary Committee already referred an impeachment resolution to the Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights and Civil Liberties. They don't need anything else to begin a full impeachment investigation, hold hearings, issue subpoenas, demand evidence and make a recommendation to the full committee about impeachment.

An impeachment inquiry is just that – a series of investigations to reveal the depths of Trump's racist, autocratic abuse of powers. The investigations into Richard Nixon undermined his remaining popularity, and a new inquiry from the House of Representatives could bring outrageous corruption and obstruction of justice to light that even Trump's white nationalist defense strategy cannot hide. Reps. Cohen and Raskin have the power to act – we just need to make it clear that we will have their backs.
