Stop Steve Bannon

Greenpeace

Kathleen-

This is our chance to push back against a climate-denying racist in the White House — act now!

Steve Bannon

Sign on to tell Congress to use its power to kick Trump’s right-hand man Steve Bannon off the National Security Council!

Take Action button

Steve Bannon’s assault on democracy and civil rights has been one of the most chilling storylines of the Trump presidency — but YOU have a chance to stop him

Haven’t heard of Bannon? He’s the white nationalist, neo-Nazi, former Goldman Sachs executive, climate-denying advisor to Trump whose fingerprints are all over everything from the Muslim ban to the administration’s war on climate science.

He says things like this: "Darkness is good. Dick Cheney. Darth Vader. Satan. That's power." [1]

Bannon has been advising Trump from the shadows for months now, and we’re seeing the results in the Republican administration’s attacks on our democracy. But recently, Trump did something else unprecedented — he stepped over the country’s top intelligence experts and appointed Bannon to the National Security Council. This could be the opening we need to successfully curb Bannon’s power.

This is our time to speak up. Greenpeace is partnering with racial justice, women’s rights, anti-war, and civil rights groups to make sure Congress hears from as many of YOU as possible. Sign on TODAY — tell Congress to use its authority to kick Steve Bannon off the National Security Council!

Congress created the National Security Council and has the power to regulate it. In fact, legislation has already been introduced in both the House and the Senate to protect our national security policy from Bannon’s hate and extremism.

Now is the time for all members of Congress, Democrats and Republicans, to pick a side. Will they let a neo-Nazi hijack our democracy, or will they fight back?

Let’s make they sure they fight back. Join the 400,000 people who have already asked Congress to stand up to Steve Bannon and protect our democracy.

Bannon has made headlines for his anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant, anti-Semitic stances, but make no mistake — he’s a huge threat to our environment, too.

As the editor of far-right “news” site Breitbart, he ran multiple stories denying the science of climate change and advancing vast conspiracy theories attacking renewable energy. Breitbart has called the Paris climate deal a “threat to U.S. sovereignty” and labeled climate activists “pure scum.” [2]

Bannon claims that clean energy — which even a majority of Trump voters support [3] — is “nonsense” and “madness.”

Intelligence experts have stressed the threat climate change poses to national security since 2004, but the Trump administration seems intent on ignoring their warnings. [4] Thanks in part to Bannon’s conspiracies, the White House’s climate denial is putting all Americans at risk.

Don’t let Steve Bannon’s hate and climate denial take over our government. Take action today to tell Congress to ACT!

Steve Bannon’s presence in the White House is a threat to every single American. We can’t let this chance to stop Bannon slip away — make sure you sign TODAY.

Thanks for all you do,

Rachel Rye Butler
Democracy Campaigner, Greenpeace USA

P.S. Climate denial, racism, misogyny — Steve Bannon has no place in the White House. More than 400,000 people have already asked Congress to step in and limit his power, but we’re missing you. Sign today!

URGENT: Act to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline

Greenpeace

Kathleen-

Trump’s Army Corps of Engineers just said it will grant the final permit needed to complete the Dakota Access Pipeline. This is the time to ACT.

Last week my colleague Harmony — who spent three weeks in Standing Rock passing on her nonviolent direct action skills — sent this message about all of the ways Trump is promising to move use backwards to dirty fossil fuels, including reviving the Dakota Access Pipeline.

Yesterday, those promises became a reality. The Army Corps of Engineers announced that it will trample the rights of the Standing Rock Sioux and place corporate profit over Indigenous sovereignty by allowing Energy Transfer Partners to resume construction on the pipeline as soon as today.

We cannot allow that — we need to continue standing with Indigenous water protectors like Harmony.

Help cut this project off at the legs. Take urgent action today to ask key funder Citibank to withdraw its support for the Dakota Access Pipeline!

Thanks for all you do,

Mary Sweeters
Climate Campaigner, Greenpeace USA

P.S. I wanted to make sure you didn’t miss this message from Harmony, so I pasted it below. It’s time for Citibank to choose a side — will it stand with Trump’s crony capitalism, or with water protectors and the millions around the world who oppose this pipeline? Send Citibank a message today!

Kathleen-

Tell Citibank to pull funds from the Dakota Access Pipeline today!

Take Action

Stop the pipeline for good by asking Citibank to support Indigenous rights and pull its funding.

Take Action button

Trump and his administration keep unleashing new attacks on our communities and the climate.

Yesterday, the Senate confirmed Rex Tillerson, the former CEO of Exxon, as Secretary of State. And Trump and the acting Director of the Army Corp of Engineers have directed the Corps to grant the final permits needed to restart construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline.

Even with these directives I know our movement will not sit by idly and accept this takeover of our government by the oil and gas industry. Indigenous water protectors at Standing Rock have shown us that uncompromising resistance gets results. We can still stop the Dakota Access Pipeline but we have to double down on our solidarity right now and resist the flow of money to the project.

Building this pipeline means trampling Indigenous rights and sovereinty and putting the Standing Rock Sioux’s drinking water at risk. Tell Citibank, one of the largest funders of the Dakota Access Pipeline, that it must pull funding today!

I spent three weeks in Standing Rock sharing my direct action skills with fellow indigenous water protectors and other allies. The movement resisting the pipeline is truly humbling. A reporter told me there was little chance that we would win this fight. And I said that I think — and a lot of others around camp think — that the pipeline project was already dead, the company just didn’t know it yet.

The struggle to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline has fostered unity, strength, and power for Indigenous peoples unlike anything I’ve seen before.

And it worked. The peaceful and prayerful camp at Standing Rock resulted in a victory when the Army Corps of Engineers didn’t grant the permits to drill under Lake Oahe.

Trump is trying to revive the pipeline right now, but the water protectors’ camps are still standing strong through the North Dakota winter. And while they do their part from the ground to protect sacred lands and clean water, you can do yours by putting pressure on Citibank.

Tell Citibank to stop funding human rights abuse and environmental destruction by ending its support of the Dakota Access Pipeline today!

Citibank has a duty — and clear corporate policy — to consider human rights and Indigenous peoples impacted by the projects it funds. And it is failing the Standing Rock Sioux and all the water protectors who have been attacked with tear gas, rubber bullets, and concussion grenades by militarized police.

Citibank takes the complaints of people like you very seriously — every message sent could mean the loss of a customer or potential customer. So let’s make sure its top executives hear us!

Please send a message to Citibank today to tell the company you won’t support a bank that funds dirty projects like the Dakota Access Pipeline.

Thank you for your resistance,

Harmony Lambert

Direct Action Trainer, Greenpeace USA

P.S. Trump is already trying to revive the Dakota Access Pipeline but we can still stop the project from being funded. Tell Citibank to pull funding from the pipeline today!

This is only the beginning of our resistance to Trump's terrible agenda. We're going to continue to resist every attempt to ban refugees, deny climate change, and hurt communities and the planet.

Greenpeace has been standing up to tyrannical bullies since 1971, and we're not going to stop now. We have resisted, and will continue to resist. Will you join us?

Join the resistance. Donate $5 or more to Greenpeace and get a "RESIST" sticker to show the world where YOU stand on Trump's agenda.

We’re so glad you want to resist with us  it’s going to take all of us, resisting often, to protect our rights and our communities from Trump’s terrible agenda.

Resist often,

David Barre
Program Director, Greenpeace USA

We’re ready to fight Trump’s dangerous anti-climate agenda and protect our environment, but we can’t do it without you. Support Greenpeace today and get a "RESIST" sticker to aid in your personal resistance against Trump's agenda.

Fueling the resistance

Greenpeace

Kathleen -

Across the country, we're helping people act courageously to stand up for justice — do we have your support?

Resist Banner

Make a donation to Greenpeace today to build the movement and protect our climate!

Donate Today

I figured there was no better time.

Our democracy is under attack. In the coming hours, days, months, and years, we will all need to act on our values. And on Wednesday, that's exactly what I did when I joined a group of Greenpeace activists to hang a massive banner of resistance hundreds of feet above the White House where Trump and his climate-denying administration couldn't ignore it.

I feel privileged to take part in this movement, and to be part of an organization that will never stop fighting for what's right. And if we're going to continue, we need you on our side. Will you join me by making a donation today?

On Wednesday, I felt empowered to join this resistance. I felt energized knowing that the banner flying above my head stood for something powerful. But I felt most inspired by seeing what people like you were doing all around the world at the same time — stepping up and acting bravely in a million different ways. Thank you.

Our movement is growing every day, but it needs fuel. Will you make a donation today to help grow the resistance and fight for climate progress?

As the board chair of Greenpeace Inc., I know what this organization — with people like you at the center — has the power to create.

We take action against all odds. We make the impossible possible. We fight, we persevere, and we win. And to do it all, we need YOU! Your courage, your volunteer leadership, and your generosity keep us going. Will you give what you can today to help power the next year of resistance?

While exhausted today, I also feel fully energized by this powerful resistance movement and am ready to get back to work building a country and society that protects our most vulnerable. In the coming year, I will continue to work with the Greenpeace community with YOU to build a world that's green, peaceful, and just. I hope that you will continue to stand with us.

Please make a donation today and be a part of this critical work and all our campaigns to protect the planet. Together, I know we are unstoppable.

Yours in resistance,

Karen Topakian
Activist and Greenpeace Inc. Board Chair

P.S. People like you taking action and standing up for your communities are what gives me hope in this challenging time. Please give today to help fuel the resistance!

Rise and resist -- together

Greenpeace

Kathleen-

BREAKING: I'm here at the White House delivering a message of resistance the Trump administration can't ignore — now I need YOU to take action with me.

Resist

Our resistance to Trump's anti-environment agenda is united, relentless, and growing stronger every day. For as long as he's in office, we will vigilantly defend our for climate and communities — join us!

Pledge to Resist

Today, myself and six other Greenpeace activists are taking a stand for social and environmental justice on the country's largest stage. As I write this, we're about to deploy a massive hand-painted banner with a message for the new administration and the corporate interests it represents — we will resist!

And if you're reading this, it means I'm overlooking Washington, DC — the site of so many powerful acts of resistance already this week — with our message of resistance hanging below me for the world to see.

As the sun rises over the White House, we are here to say that climate denial, racism, misogyny, homophobia, and bigotry will not become our new normal.

Rise with us. Pledge to resist Trump's dangerous agenda and be a voice for the environment, our communities, and YOUR vision for our country.

I grew up in the shadow of oil refineries in the San Francisco Bay Area, and I've seen what happens when those in power use their influence to place industry profits above people's health and safety. If Trump prolongs and expands our dependence on dirty fossil fuels, it's communities like mine that will suffer.

This is not the first time we've had to rise and resist to protect land and life, and it won't be the last. Two years ago, I stood anchored to a bridge in Portland, Oregon while climbers and kayaktivists below me blocked Shell's icebreaker from drilling the Arctic. Thanks to the thousands of people like you who took action with us, today the US Arctic is protected.

Now, I'm here blocking Trump from advancing his hateful agenda, and once again we pledge to resist until we win.

In the past few weeks, people across the country have mobilized by the thousands to resist Trump's cabinet nominations. Artists are giving creative life to the movement and outlining our hopeful vision for the future. And millions have taken to the streets to march in solidarity with women and those who this administration promises to attack.

For as long as necessary, people like you and I will continue to be a barrier between this administration and its plans to sell out our communities and environment for profit. It is time for all of us to step up and rise together. Take the pledge today to resist hate and ignorance with love and progress!

We will resist when Trump tries to weaken the Paris Climate Agreement so fossil fuel companies can profit on climate destruction.

We will resist when he tries to fast-track dangerous projects like Keystone XL and the Dakota Access Pipeline with no regard for Indigenous sovereignty.

We will resist racism and the exclusion of immigrants and people of color.

We will resist any and all attacks on us, our neighbors, and our children's future.

Trump may have the presidency, but not by the will of the people. Join the resistance to protect our communities and the land we stand on!

Most people in this country did not vote for this president or his agenda to strip away protections for the planet and its people, and we won’t let him destroy what generations have built. We will rise, we will resist, and we will renew.

Today I sent a hand-painted love letter to the people of the planet. Tomorrow, I hope you'll be standing beside me.

In solidarity and with love,

Nancypili Hernandez
Activist

Stop the Dakota Access Pipeline -- again

Greenpeace

Kathleen-

We’ve stopped the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines before, and we’ll do it again.

Take Action

Tell Citibank to stop funding this dirty fossil fuel project NOW!

Take Action button

This is urgent.

Donald Trump has taken the first step towards reviving the Keystone XL and Dakota Access pipelines, projects that thousands of people like you worked for years tirelessly to stop.

Our message is, has always been, and will continue be simple: we will resist any attempts to trample Indigenous rights and our climate in order to boost profits for the fossil fuel industry. We will resist this attempt to revive dangerous oil pipelines the American people do not want.

Pleas to the Trump administration have fallen on deaf ears, but we can still take action and stop this disaster before it starts. Citibank is one of the lead funders of the Dakota Access Pipeline. If it pulls its support, the financial future of this project would become very shaky, very fast.

This is our time to rise up. Tell Citibank to pull its support for the Dakota Access Pipeline and stop funding human rights abuse and climate destruction!

Citibank claims that it supports the protection of human rights around the world. But it’s still funding a project that directly threatens the Standing Rock Sioux’s tribal sovereignty, water supply, and ancestral lands.

Add to that the militarized police response to peaceful water protectors, and it’s clear that this company cannot claim to care about human rights and support this project at the same time.

Solidarity with Indigenous leaders is adding up. Several big financial institutions have already pulled their funding for the Dakota Access Pipeline — let’s add Citibank to the list! Tell it to stop putting profits over people TODAY.

It’s not yet clear exactly what Trump’s declaration today means in terms of starting up legal proceedings or construction on these projects — but it doesn’t matter. Any step backwards towards an America run on polluting fossil fuels is a reason to rise up, resist, and stop this administration from rolling back the progress that we’ve achieved.

You’ve stood with communities on the frontlines of these pipeline projects before, now we need you to step up again.

Sign on today to tell Citibank to stop funding the Dakota Access Pipeline!

In solidarity,

Mary Sweeters
Climate Campaigner, Greenpeace USA

P.S. Water protectors, climate activists, organizers, and people like you didn’t stop these projects just to let Trump bring them back from the dead without a fight. Take urgent action to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline by urging Citibank to withdraw its support!
