This month, we brought the power

You showed up to stop the Dirty Deal

Kathleen —

This week, people power won. Facing pressure from a mass movement for environmental justice, Senator Manchin pulled his Dirty Deal from the continuing resolution Congress is voting on today. While the fight isn't over, and the Dirty Deal could be brought to a vote at a later date, this is a monumental victory.

As we celebrate this victory for people and the planet, we wanted to take a moment to say thanks for everything that Greenpeace USA supporters like you brought — and continue to bring — to the effort to stop the Dirty Deal.

We brought the POWER — help us continue to fight for a green and peaceful future with your gift today.

Over the past few weeks, we made sure that our representatives heard us – loud and clear. Together with Greenpeacers like you, we were able to:

  • Gather over 100,000 Dirty Deal petition signatures in partnership with environmental justice organizations
  • Generate thousands of phone calls to members of Congress
  • Have volunteers show up in person at Congressional offices to demand their representatives vocally oppose the Dirty Deal
  • Join directors of 11 environmental justice organizations for a sit-in at a Senate building
  • Run #DirtyDeal full-page ads in both the Washington Post and The Hill to bring the message directly to Congress
  • Send a moving billboard around Capitol Hill with our message to stop the #DirtyDeal

Pressure works – this month, we turned up the heat and made sure we could not be ignored. Our collective work not only shut down the Dirty Deal, but helped us grow unity and power across our movement. Together, we are building the strength we need to demand a stronger and more just democracy.

We won the first round of this fight. And this victory will carry us forward as we continue to stand up and speak out against injustice.

We will never stop holding our representatives accountable. We will not let fossil-fueled corporate greed define our democracy. Help us keep up the fight for the future we all deserve with your donation.

We are so grateful for the way that you continue to show up and make your voices heard.

In solidarity,

Ebony Twilley Martin and Annie Leonard
