Easy Peasy Evil Eye Gloves - kids and adults alike can make these in seconds

Easy Peasy Evil Eye Gloves - kids and adults alike can make these in seconds

Dear Craftivists, Feminists, Amazing People WHO CARE (that's you!),

There are just 10 days until the March for Our Lives, and your response to the Evil Eye Glove has been HUGE and so so touching.

  • We made our intermediate goal of 438 pairs of gloves!!! (438 being the number of people who have been shot or killed at school since Sandy Hook.)

  • Gloves are being made ALL OVER THE WORLD: From Missouri to Morocco, from Iowa to France, from Oregon to Bangkok.  Check out the map of commitments on the evil eye webpage - it is updated daily!  And if you haven't written down your gloves commitment yet, make your pledge here.

  • The volunteers collecting your evil eye gloves at the Woman's National Democratic Club (mailing address is below) have received 100s of gloves already!  Please keep it up!

  • The diversity of evil eye gloves has been BEAUTIFUL to see - check out hashtag #evileyeglove on Instagram to see what I'm talking about. On social media remember to tag your posts with both #EVILEYEGLOVE and #MARCHFOROURLIVES so your creation can inspire others.

Tomorrow is the March 14 school walkout day and you can find more info here. The walkout begins at 10 a.m. local time, and last for 17 minutes to honor the 17 lives of those killed at Stoneman Douglas.

For students, from age 4 to age 104, who don't knit, crochet, or sew, I've created the Super Easy Evil Eye Glove pattern which involves a pair of white socks, scissors, and a sharpie.  Please check out the pdf download on the website here.  I plan on making several dozens with this method this week!  These gloves are great to do solo or with a group of friends and colleagues.  You can host a get-together and give people the chance to get involved in a super easy, creative way, while also creating a time and space to commiserate and talk about the issues at stake.

Please plan to send your gloves by end of this week or early next week so they arrive at the Woman's National Democratic Club by Friday, March 23rd in time for the March for Our Lives on March 24th!

Please address your packages to:

Finally, please check out this dropbox link of goodies for all you craftivists out there - my favorite folder is of these hand-drawn portraits by Aurora Lady, including portraits honoring the 17 people who died on Feb 14 in Parkland, Florida.

Thank you so much. Your work is so important. With every Evil Eye Glove you make, we weave a spell of protection and set our intentions to make the world a safer place. We mourn the fallen while committing to make change for those still with us, and future generations. Knit, spread the word, vote, and don't lose hope.

More soon . . .

Much love,

P.S. This week I am in the Pacific NW talking about the Evil Eye Glove, DIY Rules for a WTF World, and more.
