Dear Katy,

Tensions are rising on the Korean peninsula, and we are inching closer to all-out war, or worse, a nuclear catastrophe. The Trump administration, with its violent rhetoric and callous, clumsy attempts at military action is pushing us there faster.

Newly elected South Korean President Moon Jae-in is a powerful voice for peace among the calls to violence. He campaigned and won on a pledge to take diplomatic action to put an end to the conflict with North Korea.1

Later this month, President Moon is coming to Washington to meet Donald Trump, and we have to let him know that no matter how Trump tries to manipulate him and push him toward violent conflict, the American people want peace.

Tell President Moon: Trump does not speak for us. We support your commitment to peace through diplomacy with North Korea. Click here to sign on.

In recent weeks, North Korea has launched provocative ballistic missiles tests and threatened more nuclear tests.2 In response, the erratic, reckless Trump administration has ratcheted up tensions and threatened – in Trump's words – a "major, major conflict."3 Those are not just empty words – Trump has sent aircraft carriers, nuclear submarines and a host of other military forces toward North Korea.

In his winning campaign, President Moon pledged to engage in talks with North Korea to freeze and reverse its nuclear program and pursue diplomacy to finally put an end to the conflict. The people of North Korea do not want war, and neither do we.

That is why we are working with our friends at Win Without War to collect petition signatures from Americans that we will be delivering in person to President Moon when he is in Washington later this month.

The only way to halt and reverse North Korea's nuclear program is through diplomacy, and we need President Moon to know that we are standing with him. No matter how much Donald Trump may want war, the American public wants peace.

Tell President Moon: Trump does not speak for us. We support your commitment to peace through diplomacy with North Korea. Click the link below to sign on.

Protect our national treasures!

Greenpeace

Kathleen-

Stop Trump from giving our country's national monuments to the fossil fuel industry!

Protect national monuments today!

Send a public comment by July 10 to speak out!

Take action

Trump and his fossil fuel cronies are after our country's national monuments. Last week, Department of the Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke formally recommended shrinking Utah's Bears Ears National Monument, against the wishes of Indigenous tribes and thousands of others who are standing up to keep Bears Ears' cultural sites and ecological wonders protected.

And Bears Ears is only the beginning. Nearly 30 other national monuments are also being reviewed by the Trump administration with the goal of opening up these lands and waters to fossil fuel extraction.

But communities across the country are standing up to protect their beloved national monuments — from the Indigenous nations defending cultural sites to tourism-dependent towns that would be devastated by a fossil fuel disaster. And hundreds of thousands of people like you have already taken action to join them.

We must RESIST Trump's plans and protect our country's national monuments! Make a public comment to the Department of the Interior before comments close on July 10.

I have spent time in Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, one of the monuments under threat, and my visit left a lasting impact on me. Words cannot describe the beauty in the red rock sculpted by the myriad creeks that run through the land or the smell of sage that permeates throughout the gulches as the sun coming over the cliffs warms up the morning air.

Grand Staircase-Escalante was set aside to be protected for its unique and beautiful landscape and its important place in Indigenous history. After witnessing its beauty for myself, I'm horrified by the thought of potentially opening it — and any of our country's other national monuments — up to the highest bidder for fossil fuel development.

Once they're lost, they're gone forever. Submit a public comment to protect our country's national monuments today!

Past presidents chose to protect these places for their cultural and ecological importance — and now Trump could take all that away.

We CANNOT allow Trump and his fossil fuel cronies to destroy these priceless sites. The Department of the Interior is collecting public comments until July 10, and we need your voice!

We must stand with communities, protect  our climate, and keep Trump from carving up our national treasures. Make a public comment today!

For communities and climate,
Mary Sweeters
Climate Campaigner, Greenpeace USA

P.S. The Department of the Interior is accepting public comments on the national monument review until July 10! Please make a public comment today to protect our national treasures.

Critical deadline tonight: defend Greenpeace from corporate attacks

Greenpeace

Kathleen -

Funding Deadline: Midnight tonight! We need your help to fight Resolute in court and defend forests, free speech, and the planet!

Donate Today!

Don't let Resolute shut down Greenpeace! Donate Now!

Donate Today

The deadline to hit our $500,000 funding goal to keep up our legal battle against Resolute Forest Products — and continue fighting for the environment — is midnight tonight. We still need to raise $94,000 and without your help we won't make it. Will you please donate now to help us raise every last dollar?

Shoring up this ongoing fight depends on the support of this community. Lawsuits are long, expensive battles. Hitting this goal is key to our ability to continue fighting in court and campaigning for environmental protection. We caught Resolute unsustainably logging Canada's ancient forests and we exposed it. Now this giant corporation is smearing our name and trying to sue us into silence. There are just hours left to make your gift. Please help us win this fight for the future of Greenpeace and the future of the planet.

We can't let our forests be destroyed. We can't let our voices be silenced. We can't let Resolute discredit our activists. Please make your strongest gift so we can protect our environment, for people and for wildlife.

Thank you for supporting Greenpeace.

For forests, free speech, and our people-powered movement,

Annie Leonard
Executive Director, Greenpeace USA

P.S. Instead of investing in healthy forests and creating jobs, Resolute is trying to intimidate Greenpeace with lawsuits that threaten free speech. If Resolute succeeds, it could set a dangerous precedent. And it could literally end Greenpeace. Give now so that we can continue to defend free speech and the planet!

One day left – our future is at stake

Greenpeace

Kathleen -

Time is running out. Help us reach our goal to fight Resolute in court and defend the future of the planet!

Donate Today!

Don't back down from polluter attacks on the environment and the environmental movement. Help us keep up the fight!

Donate Today

In one of the lawsuits, they call us a "criminal enterprise."

Greenpeace is being sued by a logging company that wants nothing more than for us to stop campaigning and let it destroy the Boreal forest in peace.(1) But we'll never stop — as long as we have your support.

We have just one day left to hit our $500,000 funding goal to stay strong in our fight against meritless lawsuits from Resolute Forest Products and keep fighting for a greener future. We still need to raise $147,000 by midnight tomorrow, and we won't reach our goal without you. Please make your emergency Greenpeace donation now to ensure we raise every dollar by midnight tomorrow.

If we stop this logging company from shutting us down, it will be because of you. If we save our forests and protect our right to free speech, it will be your support that makes it happen. If we rally our communities to stand against Trump and promote climate change solutions, it will be because you stood with us now.

The fate of the environmental movement is on the line in these court cases against us. Our ability to expose environmental crimes and hold corporate polluters accountable depends on us winning this lawsuit. And we must: with Trump in office, our climate and environment face even greater threats than before. If Resolute manages to silence Greenpeace and intimidate other activists with the threat of corporate lawsuits, who will stand up for our climate, air, and water?

We can't let Trump and corporate bullies drag the planet backward by burning more fossil fuels and unsustainably logging ancient forests. We can't let Resolute discredit our activists and our movement, and ultimately silence us. Please make your strongest gift now so we can fight the tough fights for our planet.

Let's show Trump, Resolute, and corporate bullies everywhere what this community is made of.

Thank you for your commitment to a green and peaceful future,

Annie Leonard
Executive Director, Greenpeace USA

P.S. If Greenpeace goes down, and the environmental movement is silenced, the polluters will do whatever they want — no matter who it harms or what damage it causes. We can't let that happen. Please donate today to fight for forests, for the climate, and for free speech!

The Summer of Resistance starts with you

Greenpeace

Kathleen-

Ten cities. One hundred people-powered actions. Thousands of activists like you. The Summer of Resistance starts NOW!

Join the Summer of Resistance kickoff webcast!

Join the Summer of Resistance kickoff webcast and learn how thousands of people will be stepping up to protect our climate and communities this summer.

RSVP

You never forget the feeling of taking part in non-violent direct action.

For me, it's a combination of anticipation and adrenaline. It's the empowerment and the love that come from taking big risks for something I know to be right — like peacefully blocking an oil rig from setting sail to drill in the Arctic — that compel me to put my body on the line.

Bold acts like these bring our communities together. They remind us of our shared responsibility to one another. And they continue to prove how much power we the people truly hold if we're willing to use it.

This is what gives me hope that the resistance movement can defeat Trump's attacks on our climate and democracy.

We need courageous, creative acts of peaceful resistance more than ever if we're going to stand up to Trump's dangerous agenda. Kathleen, I want to help you be the one to take that action. Join us as we launch the Summer of Resistance with a huge creative resistance training webcast on Sunday June 25. RSVP today!

The Summer of Resistance is one of the most ambitious projects I've ever seen Greenpeace take on. We're training thousands of people in non-violent direct action and inspiring more than 100 acts of creative resistance across the country to fight for a green, peaceful, and just future.

At a time when the Trump administration is working on all fronts to advance its hateful agenda, the Greenpeace community is coming together to learn the skills of creative communication, peaceful protest, and non-violent direct action necessary to step up our resistance.

AND we're putting those skills to work in our communities in big way.

It all starts on Sunday June 25 at 1pm PDT / 4pm EDT. Can I count on you to join us? RSVP today to power a wave of creative action to protect our climate and communities from Trump's agenda.

Just two weeks ago, many of us were angered and saddened by Trump's decision to pull the United States out of the Paris Climate Agreement, setting back global climate progress and leaving the world's most vulnerable communities to pay the price.

These kinds of assaults on our climate and our human rights are unacceptable — and that's what the Summer of Resistance is all about. If Trump and his administration of climate-deniers and racists think they can push through their agenda against the will of the American people, it is up to us to show them they are wrong. We will RESIST!

We've got an ambitious plan to do just that, and your involvement is critical. Join us on Sunday June 25 to kick off the Summer of Resistance and take YOUR resistance to the next level.

Talk to you soon,

Rachel Rye Butler
Summer of Resistance, Greenpeace USA

P.S. Resisting is more fun (and effective) with friends! Greenpeace volunteers across the country have stepped up to host webcast viewing parties where you can meet fellow activists and plan for what resistance will look like in YOUR community. Find a gathering near you or sign up to host your own today!

I'm turning 30 in 30 days - any advice?!

Celebrations, hilarious mentors, and BOOKS!
View this email in your browser
30 DAYS FROM TODAY, on July 13th, I will be 30.  Happy Birthday to Me!

I'm not scared of 30 because I have mentors who have gone through it and survived just fine :)

Mentorship can be non-consensual.  Which is kind of great.  You don't need someone's consent in order to learn from them or be inspired from them.

"Oh, how I regret not having worn a bikini for the entire year I was twenty-six. If anyone young is reading this, go, right this minute, put on a bikini, and don't take it off until you're thirty-four."

-Nora Ephron
I never asked Nora Ephron's permission to be her mentee, but I consider her my mentor, even though we've never met and she's no longer alive, God rest her hilarious witty soul.  Hearing what she wishes she did and didn't do in her 20s really inspires me.  Namely, she wished she wasn't so hard on herself and her body when she was in her 20s, and she wished she appreciated her body when she was younger.  So I try to to appreciate who I am and what I have now, so I don't regret it later!

Who in your life has inspired you to age gracefully and fearlessly?  I want to know!

I put together a list of "30 before 30" on the blog - it's a REALLY fun exercise to do, you put together a list of "bucket list" things you want to do before a certain age.  I see it done for all ages (40 before 40, 50 before 50, I don't see many 5 before 5, but I guess 5 year olds aren't the go-getters we are).

As I look over my list, I am so happily surprised to see I've done most of the items I wanted to do in my 20s!  I've seen the Northern Lights, I've travelled the 7 continents, I've sold a screenplay... but there are 2 things I haven't done yet (and I only have 30 days left to do them!).

4.  Roast a whole chicken

30.  Write a book
I am so proud to share with you all that I am going to be doing BOTH of these items in the next 30 days, to complete my list!  Some chicken is gonna be roasted, and a book WILL be written.  The book is called DIY Rules for a WTF World.  I recently sold it to Grand Central Publishing (I have the same editor as Caitlyn Jenner!) and it will be released Winter 2018.

Over the next few months, I will let you know as soon as I can when the cover and a sample excerpt come out!  I'm so excited to share my stories, ideas, lessons, and failures with you.  My hope is that this book will be like a best friend that lives on your nightstand.  A best friend who is funny, mischievous, and aways cheering your most outrageous ideas onward and upward!  Please wish me luck, in my last 30 days of my 20s!

Talk to you soon :)
Lots of love,
P.S.  If you were forwarded this email from a friend, you can sign up for my email newsletter here.
