FWD: Logging company cannot be allowed to silence Greenpeace

Greenpeace

Kathleen -

In just 7 days, we will be at the Book Expo of America. We need the publishing industry to stand with us in the fight for free speech and intact forests, and we will be bringing your message — signed by hundreds of thousands of people around the world — to show publishers how much this matters.

But we are still 250,000 signatures short of our goal! Will you add your name today?

A giant logging corporation is attacking Greenpeace through two massive lawsuits — threatening our ability to advocate for forests. Please sign your name today to show your support and ask publishing companies like Penguin Random House, HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, and Hachette stand with us.

For the forests,

Greenpeace is under attack from Resolute Forest Products — we need support!

Take Action!

Will you ask Resolute's customers in the publishing industry to stand with us and defend free speech?

Take Action

Being silenced by a corporate giant would be devastating.

And the scary thing is, this could really happen. After years of successful Greenpeace campaigns to protect the Great Northern Forest, one logging company, Resolute Forest Products, is trying to silence Greenpeace and our ally Stand.earth by suing us for hundreds of millions of dollars. If they win, Greenpeace's ability to advocate for forest protection anywhere in the world will take a huge blow.

Help us shine a light on Resolute's unjust attacks. Sign our message to the publishing industry, representing some of Resolute's biggest paper customers, asking them to stand up for free speech!

We need 500,000 signatures by May 31, when we'll take your message to Book Expo America — one of the largest publishing industry gatherings in the world. Your voice will help us convince publishers to stand up for free speech and forests. Help us reach our goal of 500,000 signatures today!

For us to win, we need support from Resolute's own customers. Many major publishing companies — like Penguin Random House, HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, and Hachette — source paper from Resolute. So we're asking the publishing industry to stand with us. We want publishers to do two things:

  • Ask Resolute to produce book paper without harming intact forests and threatened wildlife habitat
  • Encourage the company to stop attacking free speech

Can you ask the publishing industry to support Greenpeace and stand up for free speech?

Acre by acre, Resolute is destroying some of Canada's most vibrant, ancient forests. But rather than working with Greenpeace on finding solutions, Resolute is trying to hide its actions by suing us as a form of intimidation — trying to force us into silence.

Help us fight back against Resolute by enlisting a new set of allies in the fight, the publishing industry!

With your help, I know we can win for the forests and free speech.

Together,

Amy Moas, Ph.D.
Senior Forest Campaigner, Greenpeace USA

P.S. These lawsuits could be a huge blow to our work to protect forests. And it would also set a precedent for other corporations that bullying activists is an effective tactic. Help us fight back! Ask the publishing industry to join us in the fight.

Greenpeace never takes a dime from corporations or governments. Everything we do is thanks to the generous support of people like you!
