A few months ago, it would have been illegal to drill a new well for oil and gas right next to California neighborhoods, but the oil and gas companies spent $20 million on a misleading campaign to pause the law passed last year to protect our communities. They're drilling right in our backyards — and we're paying the price. Living near a drilling site has been linked to increased rates of preterm births, infant mortality, asthma, and cancer — and this pollution disproportionately impacts Black, Latinx, Indigenous, Asian, immigrant, and low-income communities. It's time for us to fight back. This community of climate activists has been able to make incredible progress — including advocating to get a Global Ocean Treaty agreed on to protect the planet — because grassroots supporters have stood up for what's right. If we're going to convince elected officials to put a HALT to oil and gas projects, we need you on board. We're running out of time to stop the oil and gas industry from building their next climate bomb. I'm so grateful that you're part of this team. Together, I know we can build a more sustainable future. |
