Kathleen- Nestlé used 1.7 million tons of plastic last year. We decided to bring some of it back to them! What an amazing day! Greenpeace Switzerland activists interrupted Nestlé's Annual General Meeting (AGM) today by lining up in front of the shareholder audience, displaying banners that said "Nestlé, stop single use" and "Nestlé, this is yours" while holding up the company's throwaway plastic found polluting the world's oceans. Then, from inside the meeting, Greenpeace International Executive Director Jennifer Morgan delivered a message from you and more than 3 million people around the world: Nestlé must end its reliance on single-use plastic, and invest immediately in alternative delivery systems based on refill and reuse to end this "environmental and social justice catastrophe."1 Now it's your turn to continue cranking up the pressure. We've just released a parody video calling out Nestlé's monstrous plastic problem and, trust me, this is a video Nestlé does not want you to see. Watch and share our new video on Facebook to show Nestlé that it can't hide its plastic monster! Not on Facebook? No problem, check out the video on Instagram or Twitter. Creative spoof videos like this are a great way to expose corporate pollution. And they make executives worry about their brand's reputation! The more people who see this video, the more pressure Nestlé will be under to stop harming ocean wildlife and communities with destructive and unnecessary single-use plastic. Nestlé has finally acknowledged that recycling alone won't solve this global crisis. Yet the company actually increased its use of plastic packaging by 13% last year! For a company that sells a billion products a day, that is a LOT of plastic. We're calling on Nestlé to take bold and immediate action to reduce the amount of plastic they produce — as the world's largest food and beverage company, they can change the way the whole industry operates. For the oceans, Kaitlin Grable P.S. Today's shareholder meeting is one of the most important moments of the year for Nestlé. We can't pass up this opportunity to make our voices heard and continue escalating our campaign! You can go the extra mile by posting our new spoof video to Nestlé's Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to show the corporation that it can't hide its plastic monster.
