Keystone XL

Nebraska just approved the Keystone XL pipeline.

Spread the news and tell pipeline funders: KXL will be met with resistance.

I have some news to share about the Keystone XL Pipeline.

Today, after a much-anticipated decision about the fate of Keystone XL, Nebraska approved a permit for TransCanada to build the pipeline. I am furious. But the fight isn't over yet.

Instead of giving TransCanada a green light to build the Keystone XL pipeline exactly where they want through the state, Nebraska approved a permit to build the pipeline along an alternative route.

Just days ago, another TransCanada pipeline — called the Keystone 1 pipeline — spilled 210,000 gallons of oil in South Dakota.1

If this pipeline is built, we know that's it's not a question of if, but when it will spill as well.2 The decision to build Keystone XL is an affront to clean water, a safe climate, and human rights. But the fight is not over yet, and we will resist.

Because TransCanada didn't get approval for its preferred route, today's decision could mean a delay for the company to get the pipeline built  and that's where you come in.

One of the most important things that people like you can do to thwart KXL and other tar sands pipelines is to show funders that these projects are a risky investment. Why? Because people like you will continue to resist these pipelines every step of the way —again, and again, and again.

Share today's news on Facebook to put Chase Bank and other funders on notice that you are watching and you are not going anywhere. YOU will keep resisting this pipeline.

The decision not to reject the permits outright is a disappointment, but it's a far cry from a guarantee that this pipeline will be built.

Share today's news on Facebook to spread the word and continue building up the resistance.

Together, we can send a message that the resistance to tar sands pipelines isn't going away.

Onward,

P.S. We know that today's decision isn't the end of the story. We need you to get the word out that this movement to stop KXL is far from over, and show Chase Bank and other funders that the resistance is just beginning.
