Kathleen, please sign this open letter

| Kathleen, last night I met with hundreds of Greenpeace supporters for an urgent discussion about Big Oil company Energy Transfer's $300 million lawsuit against us. Now, with just 80 days until we go to trial, I'm asking you to take an urgent action. Kathleen, sign our open letter to let Energy Transfer know you support Greenpeace against their baseless $300 million lawsuit. Tell them: WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED. Trust me, I'd rather be emailing you about anything else right now — in this unprecedented moment of climate chaos, I'd rather be focusing on Greenpeace's global efforts to stop plastic pollution, protect our oceans, and end the era of fossil fuels. But as I discussed with supporters last night, Energy Transfer's $300 million lawsuit threatens our ability to confront all of those challenges. Americans' rights to peaceful protest and dissent are under attack because the wealthy and powerful want to silence their critics. Big Oil knows these rights are the best tools we have to demand a green and just world, and they're afraid of what happens when we exercise them. Greenpeace was founded on nonviolent direct action and peaceful protest, and Energy Transfer chose to target us with a $300 million lawsuit because of what we represent. To them, the absurd amount is secondary — it's about sending a message to anyone who dares to speak up. Now it's time for us to send them a message. Sign our open letter to tell Energy Transfer that the climate justice movement will not be silenced! Kathleen, Big Oil wants you to think twice before daring to speak out against environmental destruction. They want you to think, "I better stay quiet, or I could be next." They want you to be afraid of showing up at a peaceful protest and think, "I better stay home, or I could be next." And they hope that in 80 days, this lawsuit will diminish and divide the movement for a green and peaceful future. This isn't just Greenpeace on trial — the climate justice movement is on trial. Our right to protest is on trial. Our right to exist is on trial. So what can you do? What do you do when they try to silence you? Get loud! Speak up! Sign our open letter to let Energy Transfer know the entire climate justice movement is with Greenpeace and we will not be silenced. Kathleen, Big Oil has infinite money to spend on lawyers, but we have something they don't have — each other. Now let's show them what people power looks like. In solidarity, Rolf Skar National Campaigns Director, Greenpeace USA | | |
