| | | Kathleen — | Whales are some of the biggest allies in the fight for our oceans — literally! But every day, they're facing new and evolving threats like plastic pollution, habitat degradation, ship strikes, and ocean noise — all of which pose a MAJOR RISK to remaining whale populations. | So with World Whale Day coming up tomorrow, we're sounding the alarm now. | This World Whale Day, we're looking to this powerful grassroots network for help protecting them. If our whales are going to have the chance to thrive, we must pile on the pressure on world leaders to ratify a strong Global Oceans Treaty. But in order for them to hear us over the corporate greenwashing campaigns, we need every single supporter to urge their Senators to ratify the treaty — and we're still missing your voice! Send your message now! >> | | Their massive size, movements, and migrations means that whales are powerful ecosystem engineers, fundamentally altering whole habitats and making them more hospitable for other species. Even after their long, healthy lives, their sunken remains create new mini-ecosystems for creatures on the seafloor. | These precious animals make our oceans a healthier, more resilient place for every creature that calls it home. If we lose them to greed-fueled habitat loss, we'll be losing one of our most crucial partners in the fight to save our world from the climate catastrophe. | Unless we IMMEDIATELY demand our leaders ratify the Global Oceans Treaty and ensure that 30% of the world's oceans are protected by 2030, the next generation may only witness whales in history books. We can't let that happen — so please, add your voice to the call for ratification by midnight on World Whale Day to enact legally binding rules to save our oceans' biggest allies from certain extinction. | | None of our work to protect our whales and our oceans is possible without grassroots supporters like you — thank you.
