If we could save the whales back in 1986, there's no reason we can't do it again.

| | | Kathleen — | Forty-nine years ago, Greenpeace first lit the spark that ignited the global "Save the Whales" movement. And we haven't taken a day off since in our fight to protect them. | Back then, commercial whaling was the biggest threat to these massive marine mammals. Thanks to the sustained support of climate champions worldwide, we secured a global ban on the practice by 1986 — not bad for a 100%-independent grassroots movement. | But today, the threats have evolved to include a laundry list of industries wrecking our oceans and leaving the futures of our rebounded whale populations once more on the line. | Greenpeace USA is fighting to save our most vulnerable whale populations, but we can't do it alone. We need your support powering our work to: | 1. Fight for a strong Global Plastics Treaty that ends the flow of plastic waste into our oceans. | 2. Protect whales from ship strikes through science-based approaches to slow and shift traffic away from critical habitats. | 3. Ensure that the Global Ocean Treaty enters into force in 2025 and is quickly put to work protecting 30% of our oceans by 2030. | Please, Kathleen — donate $10 before midnight to power the fight on World Whale Day: | | These magnificent animals aren't just special for their size or their intelligence — their massive size, movements, and migration patterns are crucial to a well-functioning ocean and the survival of all its inhabitants. They're one of our biggest allies in the fight to make our oceans and our planet a healthier, more resilient place — literally. | So if we could do it back in 1986 — without the internet, or the massive number of ocean advocates fighting alongside us today — there's no reason we can't do it again. | We rely entirely on donations from passionate grassroots activists like you to power the fight to ratify a Global Ocean Treaty and for dedicated ocean sanctuaries — because our seas' biggest allies deserve no less. So we're counting on you, Kathleen — please help us save our whales and our oceans by rushing a donation before time runs out this World Whale Day. The whales can't wait a moment longer, and neither can we. | | Your support makes a massive difference for the whales — thank you. | Greenpeace USA | | | | | | |
