My trip to space made me realize we have only one Earth — let's take bold action to save it.

In 2021, after decades spent playing a fictional spaceship captain, I finally went to space. Before liftoff, I'd expected to feel the desire to endlessly explore the places where no man had gone before — but being there, looking down at our blue marble from high above, I couldn't have been more wrong.
More than anything, I understood how lucky we are to exist on such a tiny, nurturing oasis of life, surrounded by the dark void of space. It's our only home — and if we don't act to stop the greed-fueled ecological crisis we've beset upon it, we won't get any do-overs.
That's why I'm teaming up with Greenpeace USA. If we want our future to resemble the world of science fiction, we need to take action to save it now. So please, Kathleen, before December 31, will you rush a 3X-matched gift to help Greenpeace USA reach their $130,000 end-of-year goal and make the brighter future we see on TV a reality? | | | | If we don't take action to turn this ship around, our future will look bleak: further climate breakdown, global ecosystem collapse, and mass extinctions. Instead of imagining a sci-fi utopia, I worry about the world I'm leaving behind to my grandchildren. I look beyond 2023 and fear the world will barely be habitable for those who follow us.
But after seeing how fragile, how precious our little planet is, I'm filled with a stronger resolve than ever to save it.
