What an incredible time in San Diego, CA! During our ship stop, we marched to Bumble Bee headquarters and delivered over 51k of your messages demanding that Bumble Bee end their supply chain ties to modern slavery and protect our oceans. We were proud to stand against these unacceptable practices alongside you, and we won't stop until justice is done! From the water we drink and use to grow food, to the air we breathe, the oceans regulate and maintain many natural resources of vital importance to humans worldwide — especially frontline coastal communities. We're only ramping up our work to protect oceans, and our next stop is Long Beach, California. While we're there, the Arctic Sunrise will host the flagship launch of a new multi-year expedition: a campaign to demonstrate how we can restore ocean resilience by creating a network of fully and highly protected ocean sanctuaries that cover at least 30% of the oceans by 2030. We'll also share information about our ongoing work prioritizing California climate policies, stopping the destructive deep sea mining industry before it starts, and so much more. We are constantly working towards protecting the oceans because the oceans protect us. The oceans regulate our climate and contain habitats like magical underwater forests and colorful reefs full of life and seagrass meadows gently swaying in the waves — all of which are home to iconic animals like turtles, whales, dolphins, and so much more. If you haven't already, please urge President Biden to sign the Global Oceans Treaty now. We're trying to get as many names as possible delivered to him during this crucial moment for ocean protection! The Arctic Sunrise is now on its way to Long Beach where it will host various events, including tours open to the public Saturday, September 16th and Sunday, September 17th — and we would love to see you there! RSVP here to let us know you're coming and get ready to learn and be inspired by our ongoing campaigns on a real working ship! |
