Kathleen – |
The new year is a time for new beginnings and a renewed sense of purpose in the fight for our planet. |
In spite of the multifaceted dangers facing our climate, Greenpeace USA made tremendous progress in 2022 in the fight to keep fossil fuels in the ground and OUT of our oceans, our air, and our homes — all thanks to activists like you and me. |
Together, we… |
- Pressured top plastic polluter The Coca-Cola Company to commit to making at least 25% of their packaging reusable by 2030.
|
- Advocated for groundbreaking legislation to stop neighborhood oil drilling in California, which was signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom.
|
- Stopped Sen. Joe Manchin's plan for fossil fuel industry giveaways via the "Dirty Deal" — TWICE!
|
And I couldn't be more proud. We boosted Greenpeace USA with the critical resources to organize, amplify frontline efforts, put out ads, and create the unrelenting pressure necessary to send a message to people in power to get things done. |
Now, I know as well as you do that the challenges we face are not easy ones — water, plastic, and air pollution; destruction of oceans and forests; massive and cruel human exploitation; and changing weather patterns — all driven by industrial greed for exponential profit and power. |
It won't be a simple task to eliminate the harm that's been done so far. But I am confident that we can make real progress, as long as we stand together to do it. |
Greenpeace and the many activists fighting for change alongside them have the gravitas and global network to stop the expansion of the fossil fuel industry and replace the system of exploitation, death, and greed endemic to it. Greenpeace is working for a more peaceful, sustainable, and livable future — one where people are valued over pollution and profits. |
So in the new year, my climate resolution is protecting our oceans and winning ocean sanctuaries and forest protections. Together, we can stop polluting oil and gas, protect ecosystems that keep carbon out of the atmosphere, and provide resilience for the communities and wildlife that depend on this planet — which is all of them. |
But I'm just one person — and Greenpeace needs many dedicated climate champions in the fight with them to prepare for the challenges that the new year will bring. That's why we want to know YOUR 2023 climate priorities, so we can make an inclusive plan that takes diverse climate concerns and solutions into account. |
I'm serious when I say that we can't do this without you — so please, Kathleen, click the button below, share your 2023 climate priorities in our survey, and join me and Greenpeace USA in turning the tide against fossil fuel pollution in the new year. |
|
As a mother, a grandmother, and a citizen of this world, I'm ready to get this done — for every life on Earth. In 2023, we're raising our voices together to send a message to governments and industrial polluters. With your voice joining us, our call for change will only grow louder — so thank you. |
