| | | | It's time to turn the tides against fossil fuel pollution — before it drowns us out. | We rely on grassroots activists like you to invest in all of our campaigns to protect the planet so we can save the planet together. The clock is ticking for us to reach our $100,000 goal — so please, join Greenpeace USA's movement to demand not one more drop of oil with your donation of $20 before MIDNIGHT tonight. | | To stop catastrophic climate change and limit global warming to 1.5º C, reports estimate we must fight to keep 60% of our oil and gas reserves, as well as 90% of coal reserves in the ground where they belong — not in our air, our water, or our bodies. | Over 12 million Americans — disproportionately Black, Brown, Indigenous, and low-income communities — live within half a mile of the 1.5 MILLION oil and gas production facilities nationwide. Fossil fuel development can leak toxic byproducts in the soil and drinking water, which have been linked to higher rates of cancer, birth defects, and liver damage in these communities. | The Permian Basin stretching from West Texas to eastern New Mexico has one of the fossil fuel industry's highest methane venting and leakage rates. One recent study estimated that as much as 9.4% of the gas produced on the New Mexico side in 2020 was being dumped into the atmosphere. | | Oil spills are one of the deadliest threats to our oceans and marine wildlife, but they will only increase with more drilling. BP's Deepwater Horizon spill released 210 million gallons of oil across 68,000 sq./mi. of the ocean surface, killing 11 workers, millions of animals, poisoning local food sources, and threatening the livelihoods of the communities that call the Gulf Coast home. | The oil industry and its colluders are trying to drown out our voices, our Earth, and our future with new drilling. If we're going to survive 2023 and beyond, we cannot keep going with the flow. | That's why this year, Greenpeace USA is committed to turning the tides and demanding NOT ONE MORE DROP of fossil fuels. But we need you to help us keep this work going for years to come. So please, take a stand and make a gift of $20 before the stroke of midnight TONIGHT — your gift will help us amplify our rallying cry to keep fossil fuels in the ground and save lives on land and sea. | | Thank you, Greenpeace USA | | | | Greenpeace USA never takes a dime from corporations or governments.
