Dear Katy,

Tell Senate Republicans: Pass the Special Counsel Transparency Act

News just broke that special counsel Robert Mueller may submit his report on his investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 elections to the Department of Justice as early as next week.1

The Department of Justice is not required to share Mueller's findings with Congress or the public - and if Congress doesn't act now, it may be impossible to ever learn the truth.

That's why we need to build grassroots support to pressure Senate Republicans to pass the Special Counsel Transparency Act to guarantee that Trump cannot interfere with or sabotage the Mueller report. If passed, the act would ensure that Mueller can release his report directly to Congress and the public, guaranteeing that the investigation's findings cannot be buried or censored.2

Tell Senate Republicans: Pass legislation to protect the special counsel investigation. Click here to sign the petition.

The Mueller investigation is under greater threat now than it ever was before. William Barr, Trump's nominee for attorney general, was recently confirmed. Barr made it clear that he won't recuse himself when it comes to the Mueller investigation or commit to releasing Mueller's report to the public.3 Under Barr's leadership, the Mueller report may never come to light.

Last year, the Senate Judiciary Committee passed legislation to protect Mueller from being fired without just cause.4 Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell refused to bring it to the floor for a vote, hiding behind the ridiculous excuse that he didn't think Trump would try to fire Mueller.5

The risk of suppression of evidence and interference by the Trump Administration is too high. Up until now, it's clear that Senate Republicans are either too afraid of Trump or too committed to protecting the Trump administration from the Mueller investigation. That's why we need them to take a strong stance in defense of our democracy and pass the Special Counsel Transparency Act immediately.

The vast majority of Americans think Mueller should conduct his investigation without White House interference.6 That's why many Republican senators have paid lip service to the polls and said they agree with the American people that Trump would be crossing a red line by disrupting the investigation now. But lip service is not enough. They need to pass this bill and send a strong message to Trump that the Senate will no longer be complicit in his attempts to undermine Mueller.

Let's ramp up the pressure and demand that Senate Republicans act now to pass the Special Counsel Transparency Act and protect our democracy. Click the link below to sign the petition:
