Coca-Cola is poisoning our oceans.

Kathleen-

Our oceans cannot survive if they're filled with plastic.

Kathleen,

I just finished traveling down the Atlantic Coast, helping to clean up beaches along the way. The amount of plastic bottles and bottle tops — some of the most common forms of plastic pollution — I witnessed was heartbreaking. But that is nothing compared to the stress it causes ocean creatures.

The real responsibility lies with the corporations that make and use these bottles. For all the recycling we do, the equivalent of a truckload of plastic waste still enters the ocean every single minute!

That's why we need to make sure that Coca-Cola's soon-to-be-announced plastics policy isn't just for show. We need to make sure it actually does something to solve the problem. We need your voice to hold Coca-Cola accountable.

This holiday season, you can give the oceans a present: Send an email to James Quincey, Coke's CEO, today. When you do, you'll stand united with more than 466,076 Greenpeace activists on five continents and demand that the Coca-Cola corporation reduce its reliance on single-use plastics and stop polluting our oceans.

Coca-Cola executives often speak proudly of their commitment to environmental sustainability. But the company has increased its use of single-use plastic bottles by 31% since 2008. This is the opposite of what needs to happen. Some experts estimate that by the year 2050 there could be more plastics than fish in the world's oceans.

What Coke does now will help set the stage for how other corporations will behave going forward. It's our job to make sure Coca-Cola does the right thing.

Please join our movement today – our future depends on it.

Sincerely,

Kate Melges
Plastics Campaigner, Greenpeace USA

P.S. Seeing plastic pollution on our beaches and in our waterways makes me sick. Kathleen, if you feel the same please send a message to Coca-Cola right now to reduce its reliance on single-use plastics and stop polluting our oceans.

Greenpeace never takes a dime from corporations or governments. Everything we do is thanks to the generous support of people like you!
