Kathleen — we have a serious update on the Willow Oil Drilling Project in Alaska's North Slope. |
Yesterday, the Biden administration approved the project and locked the nation into decades of new fossil fuel pollution — ignoring the widespread opposition of over 1,200 frontline climate justice and progressive organizations, as well as 2.3 million new comments submitted to the White House in the last month urging the project to be halted. |
Greenpeace USA has been fighting to protect Alaska's unique arctic lands and waters — and we refuse to allow fossil fuel pollution. We won't see victory without committed climate champions like you, Kathleen, fighting alongside us and helping to power our critical mission opposing all fossil fuel expansion. |
|
The Willow Oil Drilling Project could unleash a CLIMATE BOMB — 278 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions over its 30-year lifetime, reversing the vital progress we're making toward ENDING fossil-fuel reliance. And the Biden administration knows what's at stake. |
The administration's approval of this project is a direct betrayal of their own stated climate goals — and a serious risk to the future of our planet, as we are on the brink of climate catastrophe. |
We refuse to compromise on the future of the only Earth we'll ever have. The president can still be a global leader and take real and enduring climate action — but we need the resources and people-power to hold him accountable to his word, which is where you come in. |
Please, Kathleen, we've got to make a noise so loud that it can be heard from Pennsylvania Avenue — donate now to support all of Greenpeace's work for people and the planet. |
|
None of our world-saving work is possible without generous climate champions like you alongside us — thank you. |
