I had to follow up with you about this important poll we launched the other day — I was looking at our supporters' responses and noticed that your name wasn't on the list!

Without healthy oceans, our planet won't survive. We won't survive. We must work together now to put an end to single use plastics, and to create a network of sanctuaries to restore the health of our oceans.

YES NO Kathleen —  From the products we buy, to the packaging around them, to the bags we use to dispose of them, plastics are a ubiquitous part of the modern global economy. But their omnipresence doesn't end on land. Thanks to profit-driven corporations — like Coca-Cola, Unilever, and Nestlé — flooding the market with single-use plastics, those materials are overflowing our landfills and quickly taking over our oceans. The global production of plastics has exploded in the past 50 years to more than 300 million tons produced per year. If we don't put a stop to the rampant flow of this garbage, by 2040 that number is predicted to triple, despite its documented horrendous impact on our oceans, waterways and communities. We're doing everything we can to hold corporations accountable and put a stop to this reckless practice — but we need to know that you're with us. We need 724 more responses to this urgent survey before it closes at midnight, and we haven't heard from you. Please answer the survey now and tell us where YOU stand on the plastic pollution suffocating our oceans! The health of our planet depends on the health of our oceans — but the profit-fueled pollution crisis is suffocating our seas. Despite what top-dollar disinformation campaigns want us to believe, only about 5% of the plastic we use is recycled. Far too much is left to contaminate our oceans — as well as the food we eat, the water we drink, and the air we breathe. So Greenpeace USA is demanding an end to the plastic poisoning once and for all.
