Kathleen — This week, Greenpeace USA celebrates our 51st birthday. We've spent FIVE decades in the fight for people and the planet. You might be wondering what we are up to on this joyous 51st anniversary… eating cake? throwing a party? Close. We are doing what we do best — mobilizing thousands of people across the country to stand up for climate justice and fight Senator Joe Manchin's #DirtyDeal (our kind of party). Kathleen, this is an all-hands-on-deck moment. Make a donation today and join the fight to stop the #DirtyDeal. While heat waves and fires spread across the country, Senator Manchin chose fossil fuel interests (his donors) over people directly impacted by climate change. While communities across the U.S. were facing climate emergencies, Senator Joe Manchin convinced Senator Chuck Schumer to promise him a permitting reform bill expanding coal, oil, and gas production. Manchin's #DirtyDeal would gut environmental protections and open the door for rapid expansion of fossil fuel projects that could endanger our public lands and our communities. The science is clear: we cannot afford any new coal, oil, or gas projects if we are going to avoid climate catastrophe. We have three weeks to stop this deal that could impact the world for generations to come. But the good news is that WE CAN WIN. We've celebrated countless victories over the past 50 years, and we are counting on stopping the #DirtyDeal in our 51st. Over the next few weeks, we will continue our call to action, ensuring that our members of Congress hear from people across the country and answer the call to stop the dirty deal before a September 30 vote. Together, we will win the climate protections for a green and peaceful future. Make your donation today to help us stop the #DirtyDeal and support all our work. In solidarity, Anusha Narayanan Climate Campaign Director, Greenpeace USA |
